About ITSN

The International Tibet Support Network (ITSN) is a network of 131 Tibet related non-governmental organizations from Africa, the Americas, Asia, Australasia and Europe. ITSN was established in May 2002 to maximise the effectiveness of international Tibet support movement which is dedicated to ending human rights violations in Tibet and to actively support the Tibetan people's right under international law to determine their future political, economic, social, religious and cultural rights. The purpose of the ITSN is to build on the movement's growth and achievements and to maximise the Tibet movements' effectiveness internationally.

The Network is committed to non-violence as a fundamental principle of the Tibetan struggle. The Network regards Tibet as an occupied country and recognises the Tibetan Government in Exile (TGiE) as the sole legitimate government of the Tibetan people. Beyond these principles, the Network respects the plurality of views and opinions of its member organisations and endorses the premise that diversity strengthens our movement.

Beijing 2008 Olympic Campaign Working Group

The ITSN Campaign Working Groups (CWG) were set up at the meeting of Network members in Prague in October 2003 to bring together different Tibet organizations working on similar campaigns identified as key focus campaigns in the Action Plan of the Fourth International Tibet Support Group Conference.

The aim of the CWGs was to allow Tibet organizations, irrespective of their size and geographic location, an active part in the development and implementation of campaign plans that can be adopted by the wider Tibet movement which include timelines, goals, strategies, and tactics.

The Beijing 2008 Olympic campaign is one of the campaigns for which a Campaign Working Group was established; the members of this CWG are listed below.
